I see the posting concerning the Red Light Syndrome for the Skyview Max 2000 above but it didn't solve the problem. If this questions has already been asked, I'm sorry and please redirect me to the answer.
Anyways, I recently had the "Red Light Syndrome" occur to my Skyview Max. I searched this topic on the web and could not find a more detailed solution to this problem. The answer seems straight forward, but it doesn't appear to be working. This is the basic instructions I have seen:
1. Rename any file from filename.auto to filename.bin.
2. Then use the Skyview Max loader with a null modem cable to download the file on to your Skyview Max 2000.
3. Once the unit is done downloading the unit will turn on and your unit is fixed.
First, I downloaded two files and renamed them. The two files were: "SkyviewMaxV4.9_Freezing_fix_update.bin" and "USB_factory_max.bin".
Second, I connected my Skyview receiver to my computer. I first had a 9 pin Null Modem connected to a 9 pin serial connection at the back of my computer. After going through the below process to no avail, I went out and bought a USB adapter for the Null cable and tried that. No Luck.
Third, using the Download Manager, I pressed "Port Setup" and found the respective port and pressed the "Connect Button". The wording at the bottom of the screen changed from "Disconnected" to "Connected". I pressed the "Download" button and selected the appropriate file. I immediately got a pop up screen that says "Reset your STB(s)" and then the program locks up. The light on the USB cable connected to my Null Modem lights up as if it is uploading the file.
I have tried this process with the receiver off and on and still all I get is the "Red Light".
How long should I wait for the file to upload? What am I doing wrong or what else can I try?
Thank you for your time and consideration toward this newbie.
