Limited Number of Channels
Hi There,
Followed instructions and actully got a signal!!!!! Have good signal strength and Quality numbers (high 90's). I'm pointed to DN. I am using an old dtv dish and lnb. Installed the 147P patch. Followed the instructions on setting up echostar 7 & 8. Here are my issues:
I do not have any premium channels (PPV, HBO, etc) I do have some channels, just not that many.
Everything in my guide is duplicated.
Anyone able to provide some guidance.
Thanks in advance

Re: Limited Number of Channels
make sure you do an auto scan and not a blind scan mate. Blind scan will give you duplicate channels

Re: Limited Number of Channels
Thanks....... But I'm not quite sure what you mean. I am so new at this....
After I installed P147, i wne t into dish setting and performed a scan on echostar 7 and then saved it, then did the same for 8 and saved it.
I just bought the receiver today, and have not used it before.
Why would I know get any PPV channels or other premium type channels??
Thanks again

Re: Limited Number of Channels
First you have to access the menu and do a factory default, then when it says antenna setup pick your settings example echo 7, your port example disq 1, 2 etc. Then save your settings. Next in the same menue you will see channel scan, auto scan, and blind scan highlight auto scan and it should scan for the channels you need. When finish scanning save and then press exit/end.

Re: Limited Number of Channels
Make sure your setttings are like that
echo7
lnbpower - on
lnbfreq - 11250
lnbtype - single
22khz - off
Diseqc - none(if you have one it should be port 1)check it outside
Legacy - none (if you have sw21 it should be SW21 Dish1)
TPfreq - 12239
echo8
lnbpower - on
lnbfreq - 11250
lnbtype - single
22khz - off
Diseqc - none(if you have one it should be port 2)check it outside
Legacy - none (if you have sw21 it should be SW21 Dish2)
TPfreq - 12224
Check if the sat name shows up on the top right corner like [echo7 119w] in each.
What kind of LNB you have and Switch?
We need to know all that stuff.
Post it here

Re: Limited Number of Channels
I now have some PPV and some other premium channels, but I still seem to be missing some chanels (eg. HBO, CW, etc.)
I checked the settings that you have listed. echo 8 is exactly as listed. It even shows up in grey in the top right corner.
However, it almost seems as if I am not picking up echo7. If I was not getting this sat, would that explain why I am missing some channels???
Maybe my dish is not pointed correctly?? I have really good signal level and qulaity levels (both are in the 90's).
I have an old DTV dish on the roof with one lnb only.
Sorry to be a pain, but I'm learning.......

Re: Limited Number of Channels
You maybe not hitting both satellite. Question did you skew the dish remember 119 and 110 one is a little bit above the other in orbital location. So make sure you are getting quality on both sats.

Re: Limited Number of Channels
Okay if you have only one lnb you are pointed only to echo8.
And on echo8 you have HBO comedy and latino.
You can check the channels here DISH Network on EchoStar 10/11 at 110.0°W - LyngSat
Echo7 you will need another lnb and you can use a dish500 to do it.
You will need a switch also.
With echo7 you will get Full EPG(ele. programing guide)
Any more questions post it here.
There is no pain my friend everybody started like you..asking.
I did too.

Re: Limited Number of Channels

Re: Limited Number of Channels
You are so right i over look that he said he had dtv dish an lnb. It seem that he is only using one lnb which will only give you one satellite at a time. So if he has 110 he wont have 119 and vise-versa. So i think you need another lnb.

Re: Limited Number of Channels
You guys can check @ here www.lyngsat.com to see how many channels you can have in each sat.
For me the best choice is get both sat's 110 and 119.

Re: Limited Number of Channels
Thanks for the info. It is starting to become a little clearer for me !!!!
So right now, I have one lnb pointed at echo8 and I am recving channels with great quality.
If I want to change to echo7, I need to move my dish 9 deg West to pick up that satellite. I will then get different channels (some the same, others not).
Now, if I want to get both echo 7 & echo 8, I need to add another lnb to my dish. Correct???
If that is correct, what is it tht I need, and how do I go about getting installing it?
Do I need another cable ruun, or do I get to use the one that is already there?
Where does tyhe dish point? Can I leave it where it is, or would I have to moev it to the middle of the freq. and then fine to the lnb's to point direct to the sat?
You guys have been great help so far. Thanks for the effort.
