LNB Positioning for echo 7 & echo 8

I have to single lnb's that I want to use to pick up 119 and 110. I have purchased a bracket that has a slot of 119 on the left, and 110 on the right. There is a little bit of offset, but not much.

What is the best way to position the lnb's and bracket on the dish??

Should 119 be in the arm, with 110 on the right (standing behind the dish)?? Or is it better to have 110 in the arm, with 119 to the left??

Which satellite is best to get a signal lock on?? 119 or 110

The other satelitte should just show up if the bracket is working properly... Correct.

Does anyone have pictures of what the setup would look like??

I have read that 110 lnb should be lower than the 119 lnb. By as much as 2 inches. Is this correct??

the easiest way (for me anyways) was to lock onto 110 and then skew just a bit to find 119. you can purchase a bracket that will hold (2) single lnb's. you'll need to use a switch, since you're using single lnb's. if you get a twin (most common), there's an internal switch in the lnb housing that takes care of this issue for you.

Re: LNB Positioning for echo 7 & echo 8

I have it hooked up to a switch and have already purchased the bracket.

I am currently getting 119 with channels, but for the life of me I cannot lock onto 110.

The bracket I have has the two lnbs sitting almost equal.

I am using an old 18" Dave dish and lnb along with a newer lnb I purchased. i do not believe that I have the ability to SKEW.

Is it better to lock to 110 and then hopefully 199 will fall into place??

Re: LNB Positioning for echo 7 & echo 8

you can't pickup both signals with a dish that can't skew.
save yourself a WORLD of headaches and pickup a typical DN 500 dish with a DP twin LNB. Then you can lock onto 110 and skew to 119. Both the dish and the lnb are relatively cheap, and readily found on Eb@y.

Can I just purchase a twin lnb and attach it to my old 18" Dave dish??

Is it the dish that skews, or the lnb's??

the lnb's are attached to the dish, so they skew together as a whole. if your older 18" dish will skew, then it will work with a twin lnb. i don't know exactly which dish you have, but i'm sure an older dish will accept a newer lnb package.

Re: LNB Positioning for echo 7 & echo 8

Though this thread is old, thought I'd reply anyway. Problem could be wrong lnb for the bracket as in my case. Could never get both 110 & 119 at once til my cousin suggested that I tie the two lnbs together. I was laughing at the idea of course but I actually thought of it before he suggested, just didn't bother trying. So anyway whata ya know?! The S.O.B. worked, 119 locked 100% & 110 @ 94 - 98%. But like everyone else said, dual lnb will releave the headache, of course in my case the arse I bought my dish from gave wrong lnbs smt.

Re: LNB Positioning for echo 7 & echo 8

I get both echo7 and echo8 on ONE LNB from Dish 500.
It's very odd.
For the life of me, I bought another dish b/c I could not hit 110 from the other LNB.
Now, I get both from LNB and NOT DisEq switch.
I have echo 7 on port 1 and echo 8 on port 2 but am not using a switch on Elite 360 box.
