Yes, you can use the component cable but not instead of the RCA cables. If your FTA came with component cable, then it must have component connectors also. Component cables split the video signal into three componenets giving you the best possible picture. Component is the best, S-video next, composite(RCA) next and cable(basic) is the lowest end of the quality spectrum.
Note that both the FTA receiver and the TV must have component connectors, which are not the same as the RCA connectors. And never use RCA cables for the component signal.
Also note that you still will have to connect left/right audio cables as component cables only connect the video signal.
