Turning Off & Cable - ABA DSS

I am going to be away for two weeks and want to turn the box off. Turning if off won't affect or damage the box, right?

what's the difference between the RCA cable and the black component cable that came with the box? could i use the black one to hook up for sound and pics?

turn it off bud no problem as for the cable does it have a 9 pin end like this

not talking about that one but the box comes with the RCA and the other black cable with same three color plugs: red, white, & yellow...just like the RCA one.

so if i run out of the RCA one, could i just use the black one since they also have same three colors. i guess i could always try to see if i could use it interchangeably.

but hey i have experts here, right?

Yes, you can use the component cable but not instead of the RCA cables. If your FTA came with component cable, then it must have component connectors also. Component cables split the video signal into three componenets giving you the best possible picture. Component is the best, S-video next, composite(RCA) next and cable(basic) is the lowest end of the quality spectrum.

Note that both the FTA receiver and the TV must have component connectors, which are not the same as the RCA connectors. And never use RCA cables for the component signal.

Also note that you still will have to connect left/right audio cables as component cables only connect the video signal.

If you have an extra red/black/yellow cable, that I doubt is a component cable...component is red/green/blue. Sounds like you just have an extra set of RCA video/audeo cables.
