Trouble with Echo 7 and Echo 8
Hi folks,
I am having an issue that I hope you can resolve for me. I will give as much info as possible.
I had a Dave dish and lnb on my roof which I pointed to Echo 8 and recevied great Signal and Qulaity numbers. I've been watching the channels all week. I have also updated to the latest fix, so this morning evrything was fine.
I have now gone out and purchased a second lnb in order to pick up echo 7 as well. Before I installed the new lnb, I went on the roof and locked signal with echo 7. I was getting a signal of 93 and a quality of 70 and in the grey area of dish settings I had echo 7. I then locked evrything down tight.
I then went and insatlled the second lnb along with the switch that came with the receiver when I bought it. I have the new lnb pointing to echo 7 and connected to port 1 on the switch. The old lnb is now beside the new one in a bracket I purchased specfically to pick up these two birds. I connected it to port 2.
I then came in the house and placed the following settings for the dis:
Sat 7
lnb type single
lnb freq 11250
22 khz off
lnb power on
transponder 12224
search all
network search on
diseqc Port 1
motor disable
leg switch off
Sat 8
lnb type single
lnb freq 11250
22 khz off
lnb power on
transponder 12224
search all
network search on
disceq port 2
motor disable
leg switch off
One thing to note, when I did the channel scans, I had set echo 7 to have a trasnponder freq of 12239, but whenver I go back to the settings, it is at 12224.
So I scanned echo 7 fiorst, and saved the list. Went and checked and I had all of the channels that I didn't have before. I then scanned echo 8.
My issues are as follows:
I am not receiving any signal on echo 8. The channels are showing up on the list, but when I select the channel, it comes up No Sevice or Scrambled.
Also, I have a whole bunch of duplicate channel numbers in the guide.
How do I go about having service for all of the channels from echo 7 and echo 8, without having duplicate channels. First I need to get service from echo 8, then i would like to not have any duplicate channels.
Should I have done a factory reset file after I installed the new lnb??
Are my settings incorrect?
I am a newbie at this, so I hope somoeone can help out.
Sorry for the long post, I know the more info provied, the easier it is for you experst to diagnois.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Trouble with Echo 7 and Echo 8
You are correct with the tp frequencies. 110 is 12224 and 119 has to be 12239. You have to make sure that it saves and then scan each sat. Also make sure you have signal for both sats, because from the sounds of it your only receiving a signal for one.

Re: Trouble with Echo 7 and Echo 8
I do see Echo 7 up in the right corner when I have it set to 12239. However, I do not see echo 8 when I am in the settings for that sat. I believe that is my problem.
If I do not have echo 8 indicating up in the right hand corner, what do I need to do to get it.
I purchased a brackett that holds the lnb's for both 119 and 110. i was told that as long as I had locked into 119 before I set up the other lnb, it should just work fine.
Any idea's?????

try moving the 110 lnb in the bracket, up and down...sometimes certain brackets are a little loose and they do not hold the lnb in the proper spot.

Re: Trouble with Echo 7 and Echo 8
you need to aim both at the same time.
youThe lnb from echo8 should be mount on the right side(lookinf from behind the dish)

I did not do any aiming at echo 8 after I added the lnb. I was told it would be very difficult to obtain good singal on echo 7 if I tried that. That is why I aimed at echo 7 and locked it down, then I added the new lnb into the bracket.
I am not getting signal on 8, but the signal level on 7 is 75, and Q is 68.
Does it sound like I need to go and aim better???
How about the settings I have listed above??
Do I need to do a factory reset then scan??
Thanks for all your help.....

Re: Trouble with Echo 7 and Echo 8
Yes you need to keep tweaking the dish to get both satellites at peak signals.

Re: Trouble with Echo 7 and Echo 8
Ok....... That'll have to wait until tommorrow.
One other thing, a lot of my chanel guide info says no information. Is this all tied into toghter?? Even the echo 7 channels I have, some have listings, other say no info.
Will I have to do a factory reset after I peak the dish tomorrow??
How do I get rid of all of the duplicate channels? The duplicate channels seem to be one from echo 7, one from echo 8.

Re: Trouble with Echo 7 and Echo 8
Do a factory default and you'll delete all channels.
Setup again echo7 and autoscan the channels again.
Leave at the channel 200(cnn)to populate you epg

Re: Trouble with Echo 7 and Echo 8
Your LNB setting is fine. But, after reading the post, it sounds that you are not aimed correctly. Most dave dishes do not have a skew adjustment, in order to get charlie, you will need one LNB to be slightly higher than the other. This is what the skew adjustment is for. It enables you to twist the dish to get the other sat...

Re: Trouble with Echo 7 and Echo 8
if you are useing a dave single(what size dish do you have) lnb dish to hook up then added another lnb then your dish might be too small. dave singles are 18" get a 22" dish and mount your lnbs on it. you might be able to get it but probably take you a long time IF it will work with a 18"

Re: Trouble with Echo 7 and Echo 8
Well, I was able to get echo 7 to a signal level of 82 and quality of 75. I cannot however locate echo 8 for the life of me.
Time to call in for help.
Thanks for everyone's ideas and support.
Frustrating..................
