Re: Captiveworks solution
If I understand this concept correctly and make 2 assumptions:1. There is No N3 crack at this time.2. Captiveworks is VERY UNLIKELY to launch their own satellite.if #1 is correct then what captiveworks is saying is that they will be sharing a sub to DN via Satellite instead of through the internet as other brands are doing or planning on doing via iks? That would require I believe that they continuously upload the the ever changing CW keys contained in the DN stream so that they could be downloaded via satellite using their new interface. This will require a 24/7 lease for Sat time I believe? Perhaps that method is secure for those using their interface but it doesn't sound too secure for them. It's not like they can switch server locations even from country to country at a moments notice, although it is possible to upload a signal from a mobile transmitter. But once it is detected what they are transmitting it seems that any legitimate satellite owners would quash their signal. However if this is true then I guess they have thought about all these difficulties and more and I assume that they have a way around the problems.Guess time will tell!

Re: Captiveworks solution
Is it possible for someone to maintain a site with the keys like is done with IKS, then use their new box just to pull info from that site for the keys.
If I'm not mistaken Charlie provides internet service through Wild Blue who uses an Anik satellite at 111.1? This is within the range of 110 to 119 and could be picked up with the current dish settings.
All this would be untraceable to the end user; but, the uploader would be the one to worry.
This all sounds good; but, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Re: Captiveworks solution
Wow found this in my many online travels
Baff twin satellite receiver
hxxp://www.xxxxxxxxxxx.com/baff_6000_twin_board_receiver.htm
they say this thing is suppose to pick up 2 sats one for the viewing other for decrypting Looks at bottom of the page it tells the site they aim at but dont believe its in our footprint area.
here is other stuff they say on it
hxxp://www.dreamsatelliteshop.com/frequency_questions.htm
Quote from site:
Our system inculeds two or three dishes and one twin board satellite receiver that needs two cables trought the roof.
One of these dishes works to decode just for scrambled channels
so if I read this right? These things can do what the rumor says get the decoding info from one sat and programs with the other. But I dont believe we here can pick up the site they are aiming at.

Re: Captiveworks solution
I must be missing something here. This "dongle" is a stand-alone receiver........How is it that this receiver would be able to extract (decode) useable reprogramming info which is then used to (presumably) reprogram the CW (or any other) receiver? If it's a matter of a particular set of "keys" being sent over a satellite link by "the coders", then why wouldn't they merely list the keys on a website - seems easy enough to input different keys to my CW700 (for example).
What am I missing ?

because you would have to enter keys every 2-5 minutes

Re: Captiveworks solution
So the keys change that often. Is this the crux of how N3 works and why it seemingly can't be cracked (does this resolve the N3 problem)? Were the keys changing that often under N2? (I ask because as many times as I viewed the keys via the CW's remote, they never seemed to change......or was this a critical part of what the bin file accomplished)?

Re: Captiveworks solution
Well, the is new solution brings many more questions but we want to keep everything on a positive note.
1. Availability Date?
2. Pricing?
3. Up-dates or waiting for New Files?
Two thumps UPs CW... keep it the hard work on

One of the things that is different from the N2 card to the N3 card, is that the keys change more often, the the N2 card...

Re: Captiveworks solution
Under N2 the "keys" changed as you stated every 3-5 minutes however the CW (control word) changed everytime you where to changed a channel. As I understand "we" can not deliver the CW so we can not decrypt N3. Keys, as I read these forums, are not the problem per say, it is decrpytion of the CW.

Well lots of linear sats on top of companys for communication, might not be as expensive as one would think.

Keys change when dish changes them, could be 1 hour, 1 day, 1 month, or a year. The CW packet is small and sent every 2 to 5 minutes. Check this link for some good info.
