Re: nfusion dealers busted
not too smart on their part, preloading 3rd party software.
half the fun for me is setting up a box from scratch and getting it to work myself.

Re: nfusion dealers busted
I wonder if they charged for loading the bins? I recall years back that dealers would charge to program a box (like $20.00 or more) I wonder if that is what these guys were doing and got caught... don't think all the money they made to load the software will now pay their court costs..... Just another stupid action by these guys.. what don't they understand!

They probably thought that big brother was too busy watching the other guy and they could get away with it. I don't know, like everyone says "it was stupid"

Re: nfusion dealers busted
The post did not say if these guys faced criminal or civil charges for their lack of brains. If its only civil, they are looking at 100kcivil for each modified box.
I kinda know how it works because I know someone that got sued by Dave for 3.3 mil for selling 33 bootloaders. Its possible they could get jail time, but its unlikely.

Re: nfusion dealers busted
I have seen several post in this forum from people that were really pissed about the demise of the NOva. One guy even said that he had a lot of friends and family that had boxes he had to replace. Some people try to make money with FTA boxes reselling them at a huge mark up then fold up their tent and go poof, when things get tough. I have little sympathy when they get their *** in a crack.

Out of curiosity I went to the ftabuy web site and noted that although they offer nfusion products for sale, it is questionable as to whether they are an 'authorized' dealer. They indicate the following on their site:
"We are an AUTORIZED DEALER for Sonicview, Viewsat, Coolsat, and Conaxsat."
They also have the logos of those brands (plus Captiveworks and less the Coolsat logo) on their pages but do not have the nfusion logo or state that they are an authorized dealer.
Furthermore since this is a c/p from somewhere I question its veracity or perhaps it's only a partial statement as to what has possibly occured.
The c/p refers to the Dish Network SI team (I assume that is Special Investigations Team) as planning to raid all nfusion authorized dealers - THAT IS BUNK! Dish Network is a publically traded corporation and does not have the right to RAID anybody!! Their speical investigation team have no more power to raid a private business or home then does a local rent a cop.
The only thing that Dish Network can do either using their special investigation team or using private security firms is to gather evidence by going under cover and try to secure evidence of those that are breaking either civil or criminal law or both. If they are able to obtain evidence that they believe a judge would find as probable cause that either civil law or criminal law is being broken they then can turn this evidence over to the U.S Attorneys Office (for violations of criminal law) who then could seek a warrant from a Federal Judge and if issued could then either serve the warrant themselves or have a federal law enforcement agency such as the F.B.I. fulfill what would probably be a search and seizure warrant. At the option of the agency they could allow the Dish Network SI team to accompany them as observers while serving the warrant or on the "raid".
The other option is that they could use the evidence to file a federal Civil Lawsuit against the violators utilizing the evidence that they had secured using their undercover SI team such as boxes purchased, invoices, recordings made by wired SI team members and similar. In this type of scenario they could file the suit and seek a temporary injunction against these parties from doing what they have been accused of pending a court hearing at which time the judge could make the injunction permanent pending trial.
Another thing that seems odd about this is that FTABUY is an authorized Sonicview dealer and if they were guilty of loading 3rd party software into the nfusion it would seem that they would also do the same thing for their sonicviews which was not mentioned in the c/p.
As I said the Dish Network SI team can't RAID anybody and if search and seizure warrants have been issued by a judge for other nfusion dealerships and had not been carried out under most circumstances they would not become public knowledge until after the warrants had been served.
There may be some truth in this c/p but it is far from the FULL STORY and for now it most definitely belongs in this the RUMOR forum.
