New SV IKS Domain Name?
So I'm starting to see some chatter regarding a domain name that was supposedly created 10/1/09 and is being hosted in the Netherlands.
Anyone know anything about SVIKSFTA.xxx ??
Maybe it is nothing, but I find it interesting for someone to register a domain name with SV and IKS and FTA in it and go through the trouble of having it hosted in the Netherlands.
Hmmmm.

Re: New SV IKS Domain Name?
From what I've read thats their new server. Well at least the trace route was a success this time unlike trying to trace route the old server....with all the "time outs" received. Maybe there's hope for them after all.....now if they'll just stop trying to force people from using DHCP (because it has nothing to do with their server load) they'll be fine.

I noticed that the traceroute (at least for me) has fewer hops than the old one. Looks like they found a new ISP, perhaps with better connections to the net. Fewer hops could mean a faster connection, giving less freezing to some.

Re: New SV IKS Domain Name?
Yes I noticed that same thing Michael. Fewer hopes is always better...the more hops you have to take the more time the information has to take to travel to you. The last server had a HUGE problem in the middle of the trace route with time outs. This one seems to be up and running with no problems.

Re: New SV IKS Domain Name?
I noticed running NeoTrace on this one that I cannot get Geograhic chords beyond the first node. with the old one i could pull them up to the 5th or 6th in the chain. also no timeouts across 5 runs. more reliable and possibly more secure too.
we'll se if the timeouts are still non existant once a couple thousand Ihubs are hitting it..
I've kept the faith "fingers crossed" don't let me down!

It has less hops because they are at leaseweb. A big host in Europe. This is a really stupid move. Leaseweb used to be a safe haven for bittorrent sites, before BREIN sued and they were forced to shut the sites down. Unlike Bittorrent, IKS doesn't have any legal uses. I personally don't think SV owns the domain SVIKSFTA.COM. They would never host at leaseweb.

Re: New SV IKS Domain Name?
back in 07 or so there was a problem with them hosting torrent sites, I remember their attempts at fighting off the lawsuits on behalf of their customers... don't recall the outcome..
however there is a new man incharge of securities over at leaseweb, with a pretty good knowledge in law...
HMM... i have to say good point Hawkeyi. he is either the perfect reason FOR sv to host there, or the exact reason they wouldn't.....

Re: New SV IKS Domain Name?
The part that gets me is the registration info is not private, whether or not "bob dylan" is an alias or not, IMO Team SV would and did use that registration method with svftaiks.com
Dont trust bob dylan.....lol

The private domain registration offers you no protection. The whole thing is a scam. If you want to be secure, let a offshore company register your domain on your behalf. Then get an offshore company to host your DNS. Then get hosting in pacific islands or if you are luck Iran or Russia.

Right, but even taking that route they are still just a dmca and a police request away from having their account details released..... The private registration just keeps any info from being published in a whois lookup.
My post was based on a comparison between domains and the assumption they would want to keep any info away from public eyes.
