Viewsat IKS or Dongle box
Has anyone heard about Viewsat releasing a box that will work with an extreme or other Viewsat STB's and have IKS for older Viewsats? If so, any idea of when and how much?

Re: Viewsat IKS or Dongle box
The new viewsat w/ IKS is around $200 and will be out in a few months. The IKS dongle's are speculated to come out in a few months as well.

Re: Viewsat IKS or Dongle box
No one credible has ever made that statment! Just a bunch of rummers and people fall for it hook line and sinker. If VS were to be interducing ANY new boxes you would hear of it. No one releases a new stb as a suprise! First you'll see pictures, then mods start telling you then they release....There are a few spoke persons for VS, and can you find one of them talking about it???? NO!

Re: Viewsat IKS or Dongle box
Captiveworks, viewsat Units = Ethernet IKS on the way !
C&P
I have confirmation that Captiveworks, Captain and Viewsat will be offering the "Dongle" to their customers in order to completely thwart the up coming Nagr* 3 card swap.
D*sh/B*v will STILL be wide open even AFTER the card swap on almost all FTA which is compatible with this new device. The dongle is basically a cool little internet capable box that connects to your FTA (via serial or USB port) and allows it to download new FIRMWARE on the fly, keys, codes, weather forecasts, etc. It is 100% LEGAL and will convert your FTA box into an IKS box.
The dongle guarantees 100% up time and constantly flashing your set top box will be a thing of the past as most third party FIRMWARE will originate from Korea and be FLASHED directly onto you box when it becomes available.
What does all this mean? It means we can COMPLETELY ignore signal integrity at d*sh and focus more time on watching tv as we will never be down.
This is a MAJOR breakthrough folks. All your boxes WILL continue to work after the card swap

As a site helper a more correct responce would be.Nothing has been confirmed from any of the vs camp concerning an iks dongle for them.So far this news only appears to be a rumor as nothing can be confirmed.

Re: Viewsat IKS or Dongle box
I think everyone is forgetting that the card swap is a two part process, getting the cards out and then switching off Nag2 and going Nag3 exclusively. There will be a large gap in time between those two steps or the providers risk ticking off a great number of their subs. The sky isn't falling just yet folks. I'm sure i | |
