An N3 Update from Cyphris
Yes SV has a good coding team and they should be commended for their strong skill to surpass many others the last few weeks. Sometimes taking the time out to make implementation of good code pays off and SV sure has proven this. However don’t count VS out just yet. VS are also working on rebuilding their Full EMU. They just have been busy with N3 and now that they have progressed on N3 and met their main hurdle that they had set out… (Yes I said that N3 is now a few steps closer to a reality) They will be taking sometime to finish rebuilding the Full EMU. With that said look for BEV to be returning to FTA in the near future.

Re: An N3 Update from Cyphris
Strong statement. I hope this is something factual on the n3 part. One of the keys there ( i call them outs ) is look for something in the near future.
Lets hope that its real soon.

Re: An N3 Update from Cyphris
If this was indeed something Cyphris said.. i urge all of you not to read. VS is not close at all in terms of a FULL EMU. This post should be in the rumor section and not News. There is no such thing as a full emu, but a hack on the new smart card can be a reality. People do NOT buy another VS unit unless they have physical prove of anything.

Who the heck are you to be telling people whats true and what isn't, whats possible and whats not and what to read?? It's kinda funny that people will have to read the first post before they get to yours telling them not to read it.
Why don't you let the mods and the boys who have been in this for a while give people a better idea of what to believe and not. I'm not saying I believe it 100% but at least it's something. Do you speak to the coders directly? because they would be the only ones that know for sure.

Well said brother...there are a few boxes running full emu's of n2 and are doing quite well. I think before you put down a well respected coding team, you should get your facts true, true or false.

Sounds like a good all around excuse. "Yeah, we have N3 almost cracked, we are just working on N2 emu right now though." Sort of like nfusion saying they have to work on the bev international channels before they can get at bev ppv. Aren't Viewsat and Sonicview distributed by the same company in NA? If VS cracks N3, shouldn't we see a fix from SV shortly after? I'd really like to get the SonicView HD if a n3 fix comes.

Thx for the reassuring words bud n also thx to all the OPTIMIST-SUPPORTIVE subscribers to the perspective as presented..
Hey if you don't have HOPE you have nothing?
If the experience tells and those following the FTA long enough it will be safe to assume and HOPE that the answers and resolution to the upcoming changes -N3- will be addressed ASAP..if not swiftly..this is an ever evolving issue cuz we all know where it has been n where it is headed..stay tuned folks
NO need to second guess the Viewsat capabilities folks..SV has been a bit stable in the recent weeks BUT first or second on any given event is no big deal cuz they all come thru tho.
Simply put leave it to the PROS and those who who know the rules of engagement in the world of FTA.They have been and will continue to be good at it..enjoy the show.. ..I believe in believing..

Why are people so negative all the time ,does it hurt to believe in the coders and teams that work so hard at what they do?

Re: An N3 Update from Cyphris
I have no problems with VS. The plat. 2000 was my first unit, and it worked great, and still to this day it has top notch support! As for the coments about being close to n3. I'll believe it when it comes out. I'm not saying they won't, or that it's B.S., but it's funny how these things come out after there is news about other brands. What I'm talking about is the news about neosat the last few days, then this comes out. I hope he's right, but it also could be a sales pitch. I'll take it with a grain of salt for now.

Re: An N3 Update from Cyphris
first off i really do not want to say viewsat could not do it here read some history from the dark days of 2006 ..
Viewsat autroll cardless file released // 2006-08-14
I was out of town since Friday, just came back few minutes ago (Aug 14 at 11 PM pacific time) and seen this posted all over the net
"Update from original post, FILE HAS BEEN RELEASED.
About 5:00 AM eastern time, I got a call from Viewsat notifying me they finally had a cardless fix for their receivers. All FTA receivers have been down for about 2 months, only work arounds were available, such as Coolsats carded fix which requires a rom 102 card to be inserted into the cardslot (currently rom 102s are selling for over $200 in most places, more than the majority of FTA receivers), and work arounds known as card sharing which forced the user to hook their receiver up to the internet. Both were a far cry from the cardless fix Viewsat is going to be releasing today."
They did it again when every one (included me) said it is not looking good.... hat off to the guys who did it.
2 months of darkness and viewsat was the first to come back with the same statements they are making today i am not saying that they are true but they have a great track record of saying things and then doing them ..

Re: An N3 Update from Cyphris
Tomcat. I totally agree with you. I was not bashing VS in anyway. I just don't want people to get all excited, and expect a bin out tomorrow. I think there are alot of things that still need to happen and fall into place first.

Re: An N3 Update from Cyphris
Tomcat01
Its good to see your post.
Last night after the Coors post, I went back and re-read all of the DSSG's posts from a few years ago ... and had thought about throwing them up here ... but you beat me to it
As for the timing of the claims, this is always the best part of this stuff, and I'm with Tbass on this, they are always made after some other team demonstrates that they are not to be counted out ...
Let's face it - this IS very much tied to marketshare, the preception of leadership and of course, lets not forget, Sales Supremacy.
Neo had been taking it hard lately, their IKS, Hicks, EKS (insert moniker of your choice here) never really delivered (FACT) and that enabled nfusion to capitalize and position themselves as the undisputed IKS leader in this field.
nfusion, who up until Neo's little demo the other day, had a definite 'lock' on the IKS space in this market.
So what did NEO's demo accomplish, well a number of key things:
1) Nfusion appears to no longer have a lock on IKS or the advantage they thought they 'owned'.
2) The prices for IKS enabled receivers may in fact fall, since now their appears to be competition.
Advantage marketplace ... now one has a choice.
Yeah, Yeah, I hear ya, what about KBox? They are an 'also ran', based not on the quality of their offering, but on the timing of their entry to market, nothing more.
So, then comes the Cyphris announcement ...
Here is my take on that, the non IKS guys are clearly crapping, because their units do not offer an Ethernet port and even if they did, they are likely many, many, months away (at best) from developing, testing and rolling out a proven IKS based competitive offering.
So what do they do?
The only thing they can do ... DAMAGE CONTROL
Anyone who knows anything, knows that the Team Sonicview coders are first-class and that they have, throughout 2008, proven themselves time and time again that they can and are typically first out of the gate with fixes (at least 80%+ of the time).
So saying they have made progress on N3 is natural ... they HAVE to say it, or its like surrendering their share of the market right now.
Have they made progress on N3? Who knows ... Time will clearly indicate if they have or not.
Does SV want people to buy IKS/EKS enabled product NO! Because those are sales they could have had, if they actually had an offering capable of delivering, when?
Oh yeah - NOW!
When the lights go dark, the firm who is FIRST with a proven solution, will win the benifits of HUGE sales volume and the supremacy crown; being second, simply won't matter. And if you are third or an 'also ran' ... no one will take notice or care.
Who was the first guy on the Moon? Yup .... Armstrong
Who was the third guy on the Moon, Yup, who cares.
Viewsat, was the clear winner last time ... this time, it is anyone's advantage to seize.
Simply fascinating stuff!

And the stakes are HIGH! I've been testing the viewsats for a couple of years and have been very pleased with the VS team. Only time will tell who will be the "new king of the hill" but I'm sure that all will get their share of our money when the time comes. Until then, just remember, it's just a hobby, and what a great hobby it is!

Re: An N3 Update from Cyphris
From what I am hearing though EKS only runs on the Neosat because the people who run the EKS server need a box with an ethernet port to test. If you think about who would know about a Neosat box works but does not work for them now it should give you a clue as to who it might be.
