I believe this is a calculated move to counter any and all (loopholes), and or (backdoors) that some (NDS) and (Kudelski Group) coders might have left into their older system Nagra1 and Nagra2 encryption systems that Nagra3 is based on.
This is ofcourse circumvent all work hackers have done up to this time on Nagra3 systems to date, and will cause all the work done up to this point to be worthless. I personally believe this may have been his plan from the beginning and force hackers to stop work on the new system and to wait for the release of Nagravision (G4) cards.

That's interesting, the part towards the end, as I heard a while back that they (the providers) have engineered in some kind of backup plan in the event that N3 is comprimised too quickly, kinda like having an N3/N4 kinda deal, if you follow me ... so really what happens is anyones guess.

The time frame is in line with the reports though as far as ADULT stuff going dark.

So, from the article, it seems if you want to order a movie on ppv, or watch a event, or order porn you have to have a vip box ??????? So your family sits down to watch a ppv movie on a friday night, an guess what, you can't get it because you need a vip receiver ????? I think one of the intentions of the piece, was to suggest that HD is going to be the new battle ground, the area where the providers put their resources and their marketing dollar$.

You can buy an SD package, but why would you? When for just $10.00 more we can deliver deliver HD (in all its High Def'ness) ... the focus is on HD, there simply is no two ways about that!

So, they decide to pump, promote and pimp the part of their offering that is still secure (despite IKS) and whatever else ... That is simply SMART.

At least the providers have that part right
