New Kid on the FTA
Just got a Dish installed and the installer told me about FTA.
New to this but very interested in buying a receiver but don't know
which one to buy or how to program it, I'm learning alot from this site
Hope someone will take me under their wing,

hello, welcome to abadss, the best fta site on the net!!
this is much more than just a place to get files. it is a community with dedicated members,
forums for just about anything, social groups, your own profile page, access to a weekly poker game,
and too much more to list.
make ABADSS your first stop for everything fta and you will be rewarded with much more.
reading is the best way to learn, use the search option to find posts related to your specific problem.
if you still need help post a question in the proper forum.
helpful hints:
* read and understand the site rules to guide you through our many forums.
* hard reboot with the switch on back of your receiver solves many minor issues.
* before you unplug your receiver, or disconnect any connection including the
switch or lnb ALWAYS REMEMBER to turn the receiver off using the switch on back of the receiver.
you could burn up your switch or mess up your settings if you dont.
* post your type of receiver, your antenna settings, and explain your problem well to receive the best help.
* you need to upgrade your membership to access the files section on this site. this can be done by
clicking upgrade membership at the top of the page. it is free to join the site, ask questions and receive help.
you can upgrade at any time.
* hijacking threads is confusing and not wanted here at abadss. see the site rules to understand
better about hijacking threads. to avoid this start your own thread in the proper forum
if you have any questions.
* this is an informative and friendly site devoted to the fta hobby. the members
and moderators will be glad to help in any way they can.
enjoy the forums and come back often!

Hi whiskeydean, and welcome to ABA!! We are glad you have joined our FTA community, this is a fun hobby and we are all here to support and help each other.
Just curious, but why did you have a dish installed if you hadn't heard about FTA and using a receiver....you mentioned that the installer of your dish told you about purchasing a reciever. Like I said just curious.
Check out the receiver reviews as mentioned above, that way you can see the different comments about the features of each one that may appeal more to you. Let us know how you are doing and if you have any other questions! Enjoy your stay!!
