Peter. Mac. Old Sat System.. - ABA DSS

Hi Everyone.
Have just joined and would like to say hi...I am a man who has as much skill on the computer as I have of setting up a sat.TV system. So please be easy on me??? I live in Apollo Bay in Vic. Australia so if I seem strange it is probably because I am??? Have had no experience at all at setting up a Sat system so PLEASEEEEEE help.
I have a old hand me down set that may be no good but want to play around with this one and if it doesn't work out I can throw it out the Blo??? window and start with something else.. It is a JIUZHOU DVS-398H.. If someone can give me a simple [and I mean simple] run down on how to set up I would be most appreciated. I tried to post a message elsewhere but I think it may have gone to that big hole in the sky where a lot of other things I have sent have gone,,
So hope you are all fit and well and not as hopeless at these things as me..

Welcome Peter. the number you posted for your STB type does not help me in identifying your type box. Is there any type name, manufacturer on it, other than the number...

hello, welcome to abadss, the best fta site on the net!!
this is much more than just a place to get files. it is a community with dedicated members,
forums for just about anything, social groups, your own profile page, access to a weekly poker game,
and too much more to list.
make ABADSS your first stop for everything fta and you will be rewarded with much more.
reading is the best way to learn, use the search option to find posts related to your specific problem.
if you still need help post a question in the proper forum.

helpful hints:
* read and understand the site rules to guide you through our many forums.
* hard reboot with the switch on back of your receiver solves many minor issues.
* before you unplug your receiver, or disconnect any connection including the
switch or lnb ALWAYS REMEMBER to turn the receiver off using the switch on back of the receiver.
you could burn up your switch or mess up your settings if you dont.
* post your type of receiver, your antenna settings, and explain your problem well to receive the best help.
* you need to upgrade your membership to access the files section on this site. this can be done by
clicking upgrade membership at the top of the page. it is free to join the site, ask questions and receive help.
you can upgrade at any time.
* hijacking threads is confusing and not wanted here at abadss. see the site rules to understand
better about hijacking threads. to avoid this start your own thread in the proper forum

Hello Peter and welcome to ABA! It's nice to meet you! I must admit reading your post did make me smile! Sorry though, never heard of the set you are asking about, hope someone can help you out there. Please don't give up, we were all new at one time, just takes patience and lots of reading and a little help from your new friends here at ABA. You can do it!! Let us know how you are doing.
