Noobe here with so, so many questions.
Hi all,
First off, a big thanks to the moderators for keeping this site going! Takes way more effort than most realize.
I am thinking about getting into the FTA market, and need help deciding. I currently pay $160/month for my cable (that does include internet) for the complete package, with their poor excuse for HD. I figure that even if I dump $1k on equipment, it will pay for itself within the year. I am concerned though, about the reliability, and ease of use. - How often is signal down, and for how long?
- What does it take to regain the signal?
- The main distributer in my area sells viewsat, good or not?
- Once set up, is this equipment easy to use? My wife is technologically inept and will moan and whine if she has to learn anything hard.
- I live in Northern Canada, (Edmonton, Alberta) and wonder if there is much use in getting a dish rotor? Is there enough sattelites in my range to warrant it?
- Any other suggestions?
- Is this equipment reliable? Would buying online be a bad idea? (ie. returns/warranty)
Thanks for taking the time to read through this, and respond!

Re: Noobe here with so, so many questions.
Sorry, one more thing; keep answers either simple or without abbreviations. Like I said, new here, and to the whole fta thing. Not stupid, but far from well versed in satty lingo!

Re: Noobe here with so, so many questions.
First: keep your SUB with less channels tho.
Everything right now is not so stable like before.
So check all the IKS system available(KBOX,NFUSION,CNX,Sonicview-Stay away from this one) and channels available for each.
As motorized dish can get you much less trouble but right now looks like it will be a pain in the azz to install..if you run you can get that ready before the winter!!!
Viewsat will not work right now(they dont have a iks system)
All receivers will need a internet connection to get you the channels.
This system will not work on the wife's hand...LOL
To regain the signal the best thing is be patient and wait.
Check the Ad's here at ABA to get your stuff or check the authorized dealer to make that you'll get your products safely
Welcome to ABA
