New here and doing research
Hi all! I'm new to the FTA thing. Just found out about it today in fact! I have an old Dish Network satellite hanging on the side of my house and thought it would be cool to use it for this. We've recently cut the cord on paid cable due to finances. So any one who could give me some pointers on what receiver would be good to use this way. Also we're exploring using a Mac computer to hook up to it all so we can watch videos and stuff from the internet. A question that may be dumb but here goes...I saw a receiver advertised that once hooked up and using a Dish NW satellite you could receive the channels from Dish. Is that true? I have a 7 year old daughter and 15 year old son so I'm looking for channels that will appeal to them. So any comments or suggestions would be great. Looking forward to exploring the forums!
Thanks!

Re: New here and doing research
Welcome to our Site and nice to have you..
This days nFusion is going on TOP..But you need nternet to see TV..Because this receiver works via internet key sharing(IKS).

Re: New here and doing research
Welcome to ABA...you can check out nfusion, kbox or cnx...all require constant internet connection but right now its the only way to go...click on the icons for those receivers in my signature and read up on them and decide...if you have any questions later feel free to ask

Hello and welcome. You've been given some good choices already the only thing left I can say is make sure you research it well before you buy.

Re: New here and doing research
hello, welcome to abadss, the best fta site on the net!!
this is much more than just a place to get files. it is a community with dedicated members,
forums for just about anything, social groups, your own profile page, access to a weekly poker game,
a new arcade, a chat box with a race talk on sundays, a new credit system, and even a daily lottery!
make ABADSS your first stop for everything fta and you will be rewarded with much more.
reading is the best way to learn, use the search option to find posts related to your specific problem.
if you still need help post a question in the proper forum.
helpful hints:
* since the new nagra 3 encryption only a few stb's are working, check the home page or do some reading
to be sure you have or are getting a stb that is working. the only ones that work for now are dependant on
the internet to run.
* read and understand the site rules to guide you through our many forums.
* hard reboot with the switch on back of your receiver solves many minor issues.
* before you unplug your receiver, or disconnect any connection including the
switch or lnb ALWAYS REMEMBER to turn the receiver off using the switch on back of the receiver.
you could burn up your switch or mess up your settings if you dont.
* post your type of receiver, your antenna settings, and explain your problem well to receive the best help.
* you need to upgrade your membership to access the files section on this site. this can be done by
clicking upgrade membership at the top of the page. it is free to join the site, ask questions and receive help.
you can upgrade at any time.
* hijacking threads is confusing and not wanted here at abadss. see the site rules to understand
better about hijacking threads. to avoid this start your own thread in the proper forum
if you have any questions.
* this is an informative and friendly site devoted to the fta hobby. the members
and moderators will be glad to help in any way they can.
enjoy the forums and come back often!
