Hello Fellow Testers!!
Ok I have never made a clear introduction about myself on here before. I just put my time into reading articles and giving advice when I can on here. Including trying to kick everyones a$$ at the poker tour and soon gonna wip some a$$ on the ABA DSS hockey fantasy (Ashes Of Eve) So I guess its about time I made my introduction to this place.
My name is Nick I actually live in Newfoundland Canada. Although I live in a igloo I still watch tv....I have been testing satellite for about 8 or 9 years now. I started with the Bell IRD 3100 with an atmega. From Jtagging to software this was the beginning stages of my addiction.
I then moved on from the atmega (although I still keep as a backup) once they switched to Nagra 2. I then moved onto getting a Rom 102 card. I have used this for the most part of my testing and then moved onto unlocking rom 102 cams.
During this journey I always had the Viewsat Xtreme. This was my first FTA expirerence. I was a little worried as a beginner where I wasnt sure what it was about, but after a few hours I was well on my way to understanding these Viewsat receivers.
After getting the Viewsat Xtreme I then ordered a SG-2100 motor for the 36" Fortec Star Digital Satellite Antenna aka Satellite Dish, and started playing with it. In fact I was so amazed with this motor I would spend hours outside watching it move around instead of watching tv...my neighbours though I was on crack. With the motor and 1 dish with dual LNB, I was receiving pretty much all echostar and nimiq that I needed. Although the channels are similar, it didnt bother me, my goal was to get it working....4 months later after I realized I had a universal lnb and this is why it wasnt working. My friend just moved out of their apartment and someone had just moved in, I did not have a standard LNB, so I waited until dark and went on a satellite mission, black car and everything, pulled up to the house (they were home eating supper lol) walked up their stairs quietly in the winter with a pair of wire cutters and a screwdriver...I seen they were eating and the tv was off so I unscrewed the lnb pulled it out and cut the wire and took off, removed the plastic, added some duct tape around the lnb neck to make it fit on the dish and voala...now that I got the dual standard lnb everthing was working fine!. That was a frustrating learning expierence.
I then recently got a new Viewsat PRO USB/PVR and this is my toy. This machine is amazing, and I have learned to get around specific things such as recording tv on a flash drive, and taking recorded media off external hard drive and put on my pc for DVD/torrent purposes. After playing with it for a while I even wrote my own tutorials on here on how to do these things exactly how I did them.
Tat is pretty much it, I have gotten a lot of people in my area into FTA and have forwarded them to this community for the top support they will ever get, even if they decide to stay or leave, I know im a lifetime time member for this site, the funds just dont show it with the correct membership. I guess ill have to go back to selling ice cubes on the side of my curb next to my igloo before I can purchase a membership on here
Take care everyone, i dont bite so feel free to get in touch with me anytime if needed!
Nick

Re: Hello Fellow Testers!!
hello, welcome to abadss, the best fta site on the net!!
this is much more than just a place to get files. it is a community with dedicated members,
forums for just about anything, social groups, your own profile page, access to a weekly poker game,
and too much more to list.
make ABADSS your first stop for everything fta and you will be rewarded with much more.
reading is the best way to learn, use the search option to find posts related to your specific problem.
if you still need help post a question in the proper forum.
helpful hints:
* read and understand the site rules to guide you through our many forums.
* hard reboot with the switch on back of your receiver solves many minor issues.
* before you unplug your receiver, or disconnect any connection including the
switch or lnb ALWAYS REMEMBER to turn the receiver off using the switch on back of the receiver.
you could burn up your switch or mess up your settings if you dont.
* post your type of receiver, your antenna settings, and explain your problem well to receive the best help.
* you need to upgrade your membership to access the files section on this site. this can be done by
clicking upgrade membership at the top of the page. it is free to join the site, ask questions and receive help.
you can upgrade at any time.
* hijacking threads is confusing and not wanted here at abadss. see the site rules to understand
better about hijacking threads. to avoid this start your own thread in the proper forum
if you have any questions.
* this is an informative and friendly site devoted to the fta hobby. the members
and moderators will be glad to help in any way they can.
enjoy the forums and come back often!

Re: Hello Fellow Testers!!
Hello Nick, and welcome to ABA!! You already know how great our site is so hope you continue to enjoy it! The year membership is the best for your money....some of the poker prizes were free memberships. Last night's first prize would have taken care of the first year plus given you change back! LOL Maybe next week! The ABA Fantasy Hockey league should be fun. Glad to have you here and thanks for the introduction. Just a thought, do think global warming is going to effect your igloo?? LOL Hope not!
