Just got introduced to FTA
Hi folks,
I was introduced to FTA a couple of days ago. I'm fascinated by the possibilities.
But I'm pretty new to this. So, far I've only had a tv hooked up to cable. Never had dish.
So, I'm trying to read up and learn as much as I can.
Here is what I need to do:
1. Find out which dish and where to buy
2. ditto with receiver.
Could you guys get me started with some dish and receiver model suggestions?

Hi Chiruanna, and welcome to ABA. Follow the links in JC's post, you'll do fine. There is lots of information in the forums about receivers, dish choices, etc. Read as much as you can. Then when you make your decision, let us know what help you need. Good luck and enjoy your stay.

Hello & welcome to ABAdss! 
JC is right...get a simple/cheap Dish500 with a yoke & 2 lnbs. (DP is fine)
He is also correct about SV being great...but maybe not the cheapest for now.
It seems a bad time to start out in satellite...but not if you buy smart.
I just bought 4 CNX Nano units yesterday ($95.) and if they only last for the next 4 months...it will be money well spent.
Stay away from CoolSat & VisionSat for sure right now.
