Satellite Television Piracy Case Leads to an RCMP Operation

Saguenay, PQ., July 8, 2009 – Last Thursday, officers of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean Detachment, working within the Financial Integrity Program and acting on information obtained from citizens, searched a Saguenay (Chicoutimi) residence and seized equipment used to steal satellite signals. Charges under the Radiocommunication Act could be laid against the owner of the residence.
As a result of this search, the police seized the following offence-related property:

Seven modified receivers;
Thirty-three cards providing illegal access to satellite signals;
Three computers;
Two satellite dishes;
Two television sets;
A significant number of software packages and counterfeit movies;
A number of other components used to steal satellite signals;
Four unsafely stored firearms.

The investigation continues to determine the involvement of other individuals in the offence.
It is important to note that the theft and unauthorized decoding of encrypted satellite television signals are prohibited under the Radiocommunication Act. The RCMP would like to remind the public that anyone caught in possession of pirating devices can be prosecuted.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police invites citizens to report any information on illegal activities by local individuals or groups involved in such offences by calling 418 698-5666 or Info-Crime Québec at 1 800 711-1800. All tips will be kept confidential.

I think you will see a lot more of that. Plastic is a huge no no. I wonder if IKS is becoming as risky.
