DISEQC Hints
Being in the Northern clims with lots of rain and snow and freezing/thawing and re-freezing again, I have my troubles with LNB's cracking, switches shorting out and animals chewing the lines(near their resting place, base of chimney on roof). This was as a result of visiting my sat guy(sells only true FTA equipment).
Car grease or Vaseline is the trick. Where the whit cap fits to the LNB, is now plugged with vaseline, the connection is also greased. The Diseqc switch and all it's ports, totally greased, and the switch is now screwed to the chimney. A diseqc switch in a plastic cover is the worst(holds condesation)
I left a red herring piece of 4 ft cable for the coons to chew on.
My sat guy tells me he hasn't had to change his switch in 4 years.

Re: DISEQC Hints
Good info Zekester. I have not had a problem yet but that sounds like good preventive maintenance.
