hello , I notice i do not have a serial cable plug on my computer.. does that mean i will not be able to put file on my sat?

No, you can use that, just get the right cable. don't know what brand you have and what cable you need, but, they make adapters for all cables...

Heres a little info for you to gander at...

Want to know what cable you need to flash that shiny,new receiver ? There are two types of cables used, and both look the same on the outside, but are wired differently internally. They are the straight DB9 RS232 female to female cable, and the Null 9 pin RS232 female to female cable. The straight DB9 cable has all pins connected the same at both ends(pin 1-1, 2-2,3-3,etc.). The Null cable(also known as a Null-Modem) has pins 2 and 3 crossed(pin 2-3, 3-2). You can use a straight DB9 cable to program receivers requiring a Null cable, by purchasing an inexpensive Null adapter to attach to one end of the straight DB9 cable. This allows one cable to be used for any receiver.

If your PC does not have a serial port (several new PCs do not have serial ports) you can purchase a usb to serial adapter from any computer store, such as B**t Buy, Rad** Shack..... But please be advised ALL SUB TO SERAIL PORT ADAPTERS WILL NOT WORK
ONES THAT DO WORK have chips from FDTI or Cygnal.
Ones that don't have chips from Prolific. They cost less, but don't work.
If you can't tell what kind of chip is in it, it's probably a Prolific chip.

If your PC has a card slot, a card slot to serial port is also availabel and I understand they work better than the usb converters ______________________________________________

You need to get a USB to serial adapter cable,,just make sure it comes with the drivers needed to install onto your PC,,,thats if your running windowsXp,,,with windows vista you might have a problem,,,but if your usin a Mac i think you cannot,,,
