very frustrated

Ok I got a signal according to the signal finder but NO FREAKIN channels, If i would have known this i would have never got this thing, how do you even know what sat. youre pointing at, this is crazy. Somebody help Please.

first.don't worry.at first yes it looks like a mess to you in the antenna settings.
but don't worry.we will have you up and running in no time.

what kind of receiver do you have?
what kind of dish and lnb(s) and are you using a switch?
and do you need help finding out what kind of lnb is on it?
where is your dish pointed? was it installed and working with another receiver before?

Hey man thanks, I have a viewsat 2000 ultra, I used some old directv dishes. one of them has 3 lnbs with for cable connections the other dish is a direct dish with a single lnb with dual cable ends, I have one cable from each going to a disecq switch in ports one and two. like i said the signal from the sat finder was strong, one dish is pointing sw like my current direct tv hd dish and the other is turn the opposite direction like more of a south easterly direction.

ok,forget about that one with the triple head.
(latter on you can read about using it with a custom braket and legacy lnbs)

for now.remove any switch.hook just 1 cable from either of the 2 ports on your regular dtv dish.run it into your vs ultra.

not sure where its pointed.so just pick lets say echo 7 for now:

lnb type:standard
lnb power: on
lnb freq: 11250
diseqc: off
22khz: off

now see what bird it reads its pointed too.setup that bird.if it is echo 7 then cool, sat scan it.if not,forget echo 7.that was just to show where your pointed since you didn't know.
setup whatever bird it says its pointed too with those settings and sat scan it.

if its not a echo or nimiq bird be sure to state what it says it is.in fact let us know what it is anyway lol.

ok i did what you said, the little gauges are bouncing up and down, its set on echostar 7 119.0w tp is 12224, should i save it or what, you lead I follow

ok look around,and see where it says "found etc etc @ etc etc" should tell you where its pointed.what bird is it?

no nothing saying anything like that at all.

hmm.well im sure the ultra shows what bird your pointed at someplace there.if not it may not be correct bird.ah well.lets do it the old way since i don't have an ultra so i dunno where to look.no one else is jumping in to tell us lol

so.press whatever it says to perform a "sat scan" ok.and tell me a few channels it finds.

was this dtv dish setup and pointed for dtv before and was working with dtv subscribed receiver?
or you just put this dish up and pointed until you hit something?
cus you cant get any dtv channels.ah well,your scan results will say it all soon.

Here is the deal, it doesnt have an option of sat scan. unless it under something else. the box evidently has preprogrammed sat names i checked several that showed some sort of a signal and its scanning now. sat names are amc3 echo star stuff like that. i dont know what im doing lol thank God for xbox live lol

auto scan and sat scan are same thing.try that if thats what its called on the ultra.

Ok before I jump in to help, one question needs to be asked.
Have you loaded the bin file yet?
If NOT, then you are going to need the Loader2 program and the latest bin file before going any further.

Menu>installation>antenna setup ( go here to choose the bird you are trying
to get,the lnb you have,the switch you r using- if any -(sw21 switch or 4x1
disecq switch etc, this is the screen used to find the satellites, when you pick a sat from the list n if you r getting signal from it the name of the sat
appears on the very top of the screen if other sat name appears you need to adjust your dish.)

Once you point the dish correctly do an auto scan to get your channels.
(Menu>installation>Auto Scan (when is done)press OK to save.

Can old Directv dishes be used with the viewsat ultra or do i have to buy a new dish? if so what dish should i get?
