vs9000hd boot loop attention

I know that G/C isn't a question furom but seeing that this site doesn't support the vs9000hd, I was wondering if anyone out there had to do a boot loop fix for the system and if it actually worked and what steps you took after installing the fix. What do you install after the fix. I do appreciate the help and what input you do give me I hope that this site would clearly give a section for this system..many thanks to your reply...

Hi,

I have been down with the dreaded boot loop for quite a few days now.
The only ways to recover your unit as documented here and elsewhere are:
1) Try using factory bin - use Loader2. If successful, finish off by loading the latest bin.
2) Try using the boot loop fix file (as usual, use at your own risk). This is a special 32MB+ file that theoretically writes zeros on top of all your FW settings. I saw some postings of people successfully using this file, but not sure if it ever works for 9000HD.
3) CLONE a working 9000HD. Unfortunately, the only way that seems to be possible to do this is by way of connecting a Master set.
4) If 1-3 fail it's time to send the unit to VS or an authorized VS service center.

I tried 1) and 2). File transfer works like a charm for both types of bins - 7+MB (the normal bins), or 32MB (the FULL, zero padded image bin).
They do not work for me, and for the large majority. Actually for 9000HD I don't know of any success using 1 or 2 above.

3) I will most likley resort to that come time this week is my favorite unorthodox alternative does not surface - See 5) below.

4) Absolutely last resort as I would have to pay. And if this comes back again... what? pay again? Forget it... And this device is buggy, so the chances of needing another fix are not that low.

SO, option 5), that I have been trying to find for days now, to no avail.
I am SURE that there must be a FACTORY DEFAULT FULL 9000HD IMAGE available out there, from VS that will achieve the same effect as cloning a device out of the box. YET, such file may only be available to (some) service centers, at most. It may be that VS could be afraid of clers using it for their "evil" purposes. Well, that is my guess.

So, still waiting for a few days.
If anyone has anything to add, please do.
BTW, there ZERO info on the possibility of doing 5).
Options 1-4 are all documented in many placed, including here.

Please post back here once you recovered your device.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

BTW, TixTax, if you have a good unit that you can use for cloning you can find the cloning procedure here: http://www.abadss.com/forum/92-views...-viewsats.html

There is more useful info in the stickies in the VS section. Good luck and let us know if you've got it working.

Re: vs9000hd boot loop attention

Well as suggested using Loader2 and installing boot loop fix and the factory V1000 file over and over again my VS HD finally booted up. It took about 5 tries. The last file I installed was the boot loop.

So the sequence is and always unplug the reciever before doing this.

1. Using Loader2 load boot loop fix file "boot_loop_fix_v0.pgm"
2. Using Loader2 load factory file V1000 "mainpg.pgm"

3. Keep doing this, yes loading the boot loop takes a long time to load, be patient....
4. Once the receiver finally does boot. Leave it be for a while. Grab a drink and celebrate!
5. Once I got to the menu, I did factory reset.
6. Then loaded the lastest factory file "VIEWSAT_9000HD_V1007.pgm" plus the latest bin.

I'm using a motor and at the time my STB went down (5+ days ago) I was pointing to 91. Even after all this, I readjusted my antenna settings and all is well, even moving my motor to others such as 110 is all good.

Thanks to everyone who has responded to my questions.
