My opinion, the meter on your STB works just as well. But, for five bucks, worth a try. I don't use one, but I have set up a few and don't have any problem. The meter or graph bar on most STB's is good...

Hey If it's like one sold at say FTAPRO's It could be a good deal, But the meters if they have been dropped and when you paid the lower cost you can fried your box, so if you buy the cheap on or any of them just shake them a little before every use and if you hear ANY thing rattle like something loose in side, Please don't hook you receiver up... Just my 2 cents. I got this info a while back... Now you can build a power unit so you don't have to hook up you receiver, If you search you can find out how, I can't find the info or I would pass it on, but for about $20 you can get everything from radio shack to build this little Black power box..... But always check your meter by a Little shake and if you don't hear any thing loose it should be OK to use... hope this helped ya....

The cheap ones just indicate signal level. For one that does quality level, you will have to shell out a couple hundred. For one that can also identify the bird, it's double that.

Search for signal meter kit.
