galaxy 123?
Hello everyone.
I'm not sure where to post this, so if it's in the wrong place sorry. I'm playing around with a 31 inch motorized dish useing an old vs 2000 plat. I live south of chicago, and being it's going to be in the 50s the next couple of days I want to see if I can pick up 123 sat. Right now I can't. I can get 129,119,110,and both nimq 91 and 81.
Do have have to do something with my settings, or some dish ajustments, or is it because my dish is not big enough for where I live. I really want to explore what's out there, so thanks in advance to any help

Re: galaxy 123?
31 is the minimum size you can try it but you also need a linear lnb to get this satellite .. about 12-20 bucks on fleabay .. or go to your local store for about 30 bucks .. once you have the linear and that motor you will get more than 123 have fun

Re: galaxy 123?
you should consider the invacom lnb for a motorized dish also.
it does both circular for the ones you have now.and linear for 121/123 etc like tomcat mentions.click on the fta pros banner below, they have them.then your good to go.

Re: galaxy 123?
The invacom is the one I have. I guess I need to run another cable up to the dish and hook the linear up the. Is that correct.

Re: galaxy 123?
I don't know what you found in the way of info, but the best way to do what you want is:
One cable from Circular port on LNB to 22khz tone switch
One cable from Linear port on LNB to 22khz tone switch
One cable from 22khz tone switch to motor
One cable from motor to STB
Make adjustments in antenna setup according to how you connect wires, IE 22khz on for linear, off for circular. LOF for linear 10750, LOF for circular 11250

Re: galaxy 123?
well I went up on the roof today and hooked up my linear port. Tried for awhile, but never could get a lock on any birds. At a few spots I could get 82% strenth, and only about 15% quality. Being that I can get everything on the circual side of things I think my dish is ok. My question is. Do I need to sqew my lbn to pick up things on the linear side, or am I doing something else wrong

When you get the best signal you can, push or pull the bottom of the dish a little to see if the quality strengthens. If it does, manually loosten the bolts and move it up or down to where it needs to go. If this does not cure your problem, measure from the centre of the dish to the plastic lens inside. That distance needs to be 55 - 65 cm approx 22 - 24 inches. Make sure that you retighten all bolts.

The way your dish turns on the motor it skews automatically. It is more important that the LNB be at the focal point and the dish & motor set up accurate.

Thanks That's what I need to know. Now here's the deal. I read in a post some instruction about setting up a motorrized dish. I remember one of the first steps after installing it was to find the major sat. like 119 110 both the nimq sat. I did that and have 95 to 100% S and Q on them.
My satus as of now. I can get both nimq, 119 110 and 129 sat's. That is all I get. I never could figure out how to use USAL, so I just move it around useing the insataller opion in settings.
This maybe my problem. My motor angle is right on, but when I go to set my dish angle I can only move it down so far and I hit the mount pole. I can't get to the angle the calculation tells me to put it at. I didn't use the mounting pole it came with, due to the fact my old dish 500 mount was on the roof, and was tared over already. it looked like the same pole, just a little shorter. so I just used that. I did put the dish on the right pole when I was in the house, and it seemed like it would be the same issue with the dish braket hitting the mount pole before I could get to the proper angle. Has any one else heard of this problem?
Maybe this is a Spring time project when the weather gets nicer. I'll be able to give more info later when I get up on the roof later today.

Re: galaxy 123?
Maybe with the direction this thread is going. a mod may want to move it to the dish motor section.

I forgot to tell you. That is what you do. L and C ports to switch, then to motor.

Re: galaxy 123?
oh boy now I'm lost. I still can't get anything. got the manual out and going to try to go back to square 1. going and did step one. I found my lat, and set the elivation on my motor from what my chart said. Now here is where I get lost. there is two more setting in the chart. 1 is the dish bracket angle, and the other is the declination angle. There is noe explaination of what the declination angle is, so this is where I get lost. This maybe my problem, but if some one can explain this to me, I'd be greatful because I can find any reading on this subject
