This last ECM was familiar in that it was like the Direct TV Black Tuesday when Chuck sent a command to burn out the bootloader in the HU cards. It was believed that Chuck purposely lead the programming code in a direction that nobody saw the bus coming that hit them. Kinda like the frog in a cold pot of water then slowly turning up the heat till the frog was cooked and didn’t know it till it was too late.

My point is, my receiver was doing some weird Sh!t from that last ECM. Makes be believe that maybe Charlie is taking a page out of Chucks old play book. Instead of just changing the mapping. Maybe Chucks got some hotshot programmers that have devised a way to attack our individual machines basic instruction. Like trying to loop the logic chipset like the old HU cards did.

Makes me wonder!!!!!!!!!!

I think your reading too into it. It was a bug in the MECM routine that caused the problems with the VS and SV boxes. Many weren't even effected. There is more than one way to skin a cat, and DIK found a flaw in their routine. Dave was never running an emulation like the FTA boxes. Different animal altogether.

DTV, fooled us all when we started buying up massive amounts of p4 cards. For that lone reason i will forever hate them. But Bigbird is right, its another part from last weeks ecm...the 4 part epic battle.lol

Either way, these ecm's will start getting nasty. I think the coders are on top of every change and move done by both providers. Remember there is way too much money involved for FTA to die. You also have to remember that DTV changed there whole way of encryption, though there are rumors of a hack circulating, the cost is still way too high for wide public use. Hey church, you and tons of other people...lol.

Yeah I agree with bigbird it was aimed at killing the programming not the machine. If I unhooked the coax my Vs would act normal and tune in the free channels fine. The minute I touched the coax back it would freeze up. So it didn't do any harm to the box it was only program related.

I wouldn't worry too much or read too into it,there is not really much more they can do on the dish end unless they plan a huge card swap as Bev is doing now.
