Same VS9000HD question for 4th time now. record from guide???

Ok I have asked this question 3 or 4 times in the VS9000 help area but zero help. So lets try the general area. Can you set a recording to record a program from the guide on the VS9000HD?

This all depends.

Are you watching TV at the time you want it to record? You cannot be watching a channel and expect the receiver to record from the other channel, as you probably do not have it set up with dual LNB lines in.

If you have the HD adapter kit for DN HD, then, nope, you will not be able to watch a program while the receiver records another.

To watch one program and record another requires a true dual tuner receiver. For HD, this would require 2 HD tuners, and presently, we are only using one with the HD tuner upgrades.

When you are in the Guide and select a program with the arrow keys, hit the red button. This function is called the Program Reservation feature. This will have the receiver automatically change channels to that program when it starts. In there you can also set the receiver to record the program. However, you probably cannot turn the channel and watch another program while it is recording.

Thank you. And I did try the manual and did not see anything about recording from guide. I think I got it now. Very cool I just want to record when I'm sleeping for viewing later or burning to DVD. Thanks
