BeV CARD SWAP
the card swap is an operation code name davinci. It's main purpose is to prevent piracy or (FTA)of course...most likely the new encryptionwill be nagra3.
carldless receivers willsimply receive a rev update(there is a chip inside
the receiver instead of a card) and that will be it.
currenltly,it seems that Ontario is the only one is being targeted and other provinces will follow soon after.
DN will wait and see what happens to b3v before they decide to swap, they dont want to stick their neck out and order a card swap.if it will only last a few days before it's hacked

Re: BeV CARD SWAP
Well this should motivate coders and FTA sellers to crack Nagra 3. There giving us the heads up. Where there's a will there's a way.

Re: BeV CARD SWAP
The Bev swap has already been set in motion, store have received notices months ago telling them to begin selling only the updated receivers with the current NEW card only. Systems like the 4100 that is cardless, hopefully will not require the new cards...i have one and have no interest in activating it, lol. DN will have a tougher time with there 16million plus subscribers compared to BEV's 1.6-1.7.
Here is some info from digitalhome
Digital Home Canada - ExpressVu implementing new anti-piracy measures
p.s. what do you mean how can they do it....very simple, send cards out to people in ontario and then only update the firmware on the chip to cardless 4100's like mine, in ontario. Most often Ontario has the most subscribers, i would have tried it on a smaller market area first, less hassles if something goes wrong.

Re: BeV CARD SWAP
WHoa for Dn is going to take more time to be able to happen all this swap. But first they need to see how long nagra 3 can last.

Re: BeV CARD SWAP
The card swap will have more effect on people who do not have the cash to upgrade their box. This in turn will help "curb" FTA use for the short term... Using Nagra 3 may work for a bit but, someone, somewhere,& sometime soon will release that they cracked it..... If for no other reason than bragging rights.... So as far as I am concerned, until new birds with serious technology are put up, FTA will thrive..... Shareholders want security and a card swap may be the false sense of security they are looking for. So kudos to the big guys with deep pockets... LMFAO!!!!!

Nagra 3 is already rumored to be cracked in europe. The card swap could be, but won't be the answer to there piracy woes. If they went in and split the cost for something a lot more secure like DTV, Not so pure fta would end. So there would be no false sense of security. Who knows...maybe they are already apart of the Piracy and making a buck on it also...

Re: BeV CARD SWAP
i think the only way to curb fta use is to stop from being greety and make programing more reasonable to subscribe to. 50 dollars for a boring boxing match were the boxers are getting millions and thats just the boxers. 3 to 4 dollars for a movie, watch a few during the month and you out 15 -20 dollars a month add all that up with your monthly subscriptions and who can afford that about 1 percent of the population. untill people stop from being greedy there will allways be somebody to get around it allways

Re: BeV CARD SWAP
there seems to be some confusion as to what Ontario is, possibly getting it confused with Ontario, California U.S.A.
