GOOLY"s NEW DISH
Good news, I just inherited a 10ft fully motorized dish. It's 200 km from me and getting it back the the first 197km is the easy part, then the road ends. the last 3 km to my house is only accessable by a trail no wider than 3ft and it's up the mountain from that point. I don't want to fly it in due to the cost.
My question is does anybody know if a dish that size is assembled in pie shaped pieces that bolt together or is it one solid piece. I've seen the dish but never thought to look close at it. the only way i can think of getting it up is either rolling it up by hand or wait til winter again and use the skidoo or dogsled. please tell me it comes apart.

Re: GOOLY"s NEW DISH
Very very good odds it's in sections. It has to be real old to be a solid one. At least form the ones I've seen.

Re: GOOLY"s NEW DISH
Oh ya forgot to mention, if you stand it up it's not that wide, sort of like a dog trying to carry a 4 foot stick through a 3 foot door, it can be done it's just a matter of how you carry it.

I have seen and installed quite a few of those way back when and most came in 8 pieces as Rick stated above.

I realize that part, but to get it up in summer months i have to roll it by hand and walk it up as i just have a trail bike to get up and down in the summer months. Maybe I should get an atv and wagon setup.
PS. It is a mesh design, does that mean it comes apart?

Re: GOOLY"s NEW DISH
Ya just teasing. The mesh ones I've seen are sectioned but like Rick says his dad's wasn't. If you can't get the last three k's until winter maybe you can get your buddy the bear to hold it for you while you put it up next spring.

Re: GOOLY"s NEW DISH
If you live that High up, here's what to do,lol. Secure a really good rope to the dish, run the rope to your cabin, ya I know 3k, big fawking rope. At your Cabin run it once around the biggest fawking tree and secure it to the Bigest Roundest Fawkin Boulder you can find. Then Launch the boulder down the path, hopefully the Rock and Dish won't meet, lmao, your Honor.
I wish I had a picture. . Just don't kill yourself getting it there.

Re: GOOLY"s NEW DISH
Hey Gooly, if it's a mesh it's 95% sure it comes in 8 section, easy to carry and light. Well fairly light. The mounting hardware will be quite heavy and not as easy to carry. Best have a small trailer.

First of all Gooly, congrats on the new "inherited" dish. Does that mean it was "free". I would call you a "cheapskate" - but lord knows someone might think that I was being a bit rude and that might hurt your feelings. (heeheehe)
Re: Moving it.
Drive 197 km. Set up dish. Go home, get generator, little tv and receiver. Go back to dish. Plug everything into the generator and connect to dish. Hone in until you get a signal. Attach 3 km of cable. Go home unrolling cable as you go. Reconnect, roll a fattie, grab a beer, put your feet up and enjoy.
Keep your eyes open, you may find 3 km of cable in a dumpster. (LMAO)

Dear Gooly ... I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. A little girl was once asked why our pets go to heaven before us. She replied - "because they have less to learn". I have always remembered that and have wondered - when my lessons are done, I will be re-united with my four legged "best friends". I hope so.
