Re: Subject: School -- 1957 vs. 2007
Not even in the 50's...When i was in high school less then 10 years ago...we did not have these problems, i went to a big school in toronto. I think its also the way kids are raised today, and not understanding there are consequences for there actions and the meaning of "NO". Bring back being allowed to hit your kids... Anybody in ontario see that kid that got busted for going 239 km/h in an 80 km/h zone ? jesus....

Re: Subject: School -- 1957 vs. 2007
My son is in daycare and the government licensing board that regulates the daycares has just enforced a policy stating no negative re-enforcements. This means a care provider cannot tell a child NO, this also means a child can deliberately hurt another child and not suffer any form of consequence other than "redirection".
As far as Im concerned, if my child hits another child with a truck for example, my child should have the toy taken away, he should be asked to sit for a couple minutes and then apologize.
What is wrong with teaching consequence, especially when a parent gives the care providers written consent to handle discipline in a non-violent or demeaning way.
It Baffles me

Exactly my point...Its like were all babies now, no longer able to tell from right or wrong, and the government feels the need to do so.

I could say alot on this subject but I want. I will say if they put the fear of God back into Kids and criminals some of this would stop. If there were not lawyers who will sue for a dollar we would be not have kids with more rights than the parents and the criminals would still be hung on main street for raping and killing kids and women.

Re: Subject: School -- 1957 vs. 2007
i agree today kids are treated like they are babies ,some parents just dont give a $hit what ther kids are up to ,i see kids 12 or 13 year old running the streets at all hours of the night ,when i was that age back in the 60s i had better make shure i was home before the street lights came on or there would be hell to pay ,also teatchers have no authority any more kids do not respect them or have any fear of consiquenses for behaving badly ,in th uk where i went to school if you screwed up you were brought up to the front of the class and given the strap ,and when you got home oh boy were you in trouble ,parents need to held responsable for the little trouble makers they raised ,how about if the kid does somthing wrong we through the parents in jail then they might give a **** what ther kids are doing , and yes i did hear about that kid doing 239 kph on the toronto news ,and ther were two or three passengers to ,a disaster waiting to happen ..
