Just Joined - ABA DSS

Hello Everyone,
Stumbled onto this site while searching how to set up an antenna to receive local channels. My wife and I decided the other day to get rid of our satellite tv service due to the fact we hardly even watch tv and are flushing down the toilet 60 dollars a month. No thanks. Now if I can get a bunch of channels for free, that is another story.

I have on piece of the puzzle, the antenna. A dish with three LNB's. Now just need to find a receiver. I have two Phillips receivers from my provider but have a feeling they will not work. Not a big deal.

I am in search mode right now and will post if I can't find an answer to any questions I might have.

well I just found out that my dish is not going to work. Was looking at the FAQ's on Satmaniacs.com and they said the oval dish with 3 LNB's from DT will not work which is the one I have. Oh well, back to finding a dish unless someone else has other information.

hello, welcome to abadss, the best fta site on the net!!
this is much more than just a place to get files. it is a community with dedicated members, forums for just about anything, social groups, your own profile page, and too much more to list.
make ABADSS your first stop for everything fta and you will be rewarded with much more.
reading is the best way to learn, use the search option to find posts related to your specific problem. if you still need help post a question in the proper forum.
helpful hints:
* read and understand the site rules to guide you through our many forums.
* hard reboot with the switch on back of your receiver solves many minor issues.
* before you unplug your receiver, or disconnect any connection including the switch or lnb ALWAYS REMEMBER to turn the receiver off using the switch on back of the receiver. you could burn up your switch or mess up your settings if you dont.
* post your type of receiver, your antenna settings, and explain your problem well to receive the best help.
* you need to upgrade your membership to access the files section on this site. this can be done by clicking upgrade membership at the top of the page.
* hijacking threads is confusing and not wanted here at abadss. see the site rules to understand better about hijacking threads. to avoid this start your own thread in the proper forum if you have any questions.
* this is an informative and friendly site devoted to the fta hobby. the members and moderators will be glad to help in any way they can.

Welcome to ABA! And you are right, as far as I know you will need another dish. There is so much information on this site to guide you in the right direction, just start at the "newbie" section and work your way up! The "FTA Glossary" button at the top is an excellent source to help you out with some of the new phrases you may come across. Good luck to you. Please let us know what you end up doing.
