What up to all!
Hey
I'm new to the Sat world but eager to learn. I received the COOLSAT 5000 Platinum as a gift and was excited for about the first week, till it died out on me. I was looking to upgrade to a HD-DVR unit. Looks like Viewsat and Sonicview are tops on the list so far. Any suggestions,
P.S. Any chance on my COOLSAT 5000 Platinum working again for a second unit atleas. From what I read it's on it's last leg.

Re: What up to all!
welcome aboard friend
yes the sonicview and viewsats are the way to go
the coolsat support is so slow that i would suggest get you a captiveworks as a low priced backup unit but only a cw650 or higher number not a 600
captiveworks and sonicview and vs have great support

Hello and welcome. The 5000 might come back to life for a few days and then again it might not, hard to say.

Re: What up to all!
hello, welcome to abadss, the best fta site on the net!!
this is much more than just a place to get files. it is a community with dedicated members, forums for just about anything, social groups, your own profile page, and too much more to list.
make ABADSS your first stop for everything fta and you will be rewarded with much more.
reading is the best way to learn, use the search option to find posts related to your specific problem. if you still need help post a question in the proper forum.
helpful hints:
* read and understand the site rules to guide you through our many forums.
* hard reboot with the switch on back of your receiver solves many minor issues.
* before you unplug your receiver, or disconnect any connection including the switch or lnb ALWAYS REMEMBER to turn the receiver off using the switch on back of the receiver. you could burn up your switch or mess up your settings if you dont.
* post your type of receiver, your antenna settings, and explain your problem well to receive the best help.
* you need to upgrade your membership to access the files section on this site. this can be done by clicking upgrade membership at the top of the page.
* hijacking threads is confusing and not wanted here at abadss. see the site rules to understand better about hijacking threads. to avoid this start your own thread in the proper forum if you have any questions.
* this is an informative and friendly site devoted to the fta hobby. the members and moderators will be glad to help in any way they can.
enjoy the forums and come back often!

Re: What up to all!
once CS was a good receiver but nowadays the support is low, i believe SV or VS are the best right now

Hi and welcome to ABA!! Congratulations on your first post. Hope to hear more from you in the future. There's lots of information here to help you learn the "ins and outs" of FTA testing. Hey, a gift is a gift!! They did have something where you could trade it in and get an upgraded stb plus approx $79 I think. I still have mine and I'm not using it as a door stop yet! LOL Take it for what it is....a backup that won't be up very often. There is a section in the forums "Receiver Reviews", I would suggest you start there and read as much as you possibly can about everything. Good luck and happy testing.
