Re: New! Cw-4000hd!!!
if you look close in the specs, you'll notice it does QPSK, 8PSK, and 16QAM AS IS, OFF THE SHELF
I think this is the FIRST FTA to included QPSK/8PSK as one, which means it WILL receive FULL DN HD (also known as "TurboHD")

Re: New! Cw-4000hd!!!
any fta that has the new dvb-s2 is capable of all the formats reverse and also right the reason this can do it is because it is a computer
with a tuner ,dvb card you can get all that too
i am not trying to put it down i would love to have one but really it is a computer media center with fta .. you can get the same with your home computer a tuner card and a dvb car .. since you have a computer it is 200.00 bucks for the others ..
it is a old setup in a computer .. really cool same as the cw 3000
but i think they are expensive

Re: New! Cw-4000hd!!!
thank god, i know it.....but still, this system is selling for $479.99US, which is cheaper than buying a 3000HD with a GenPix/Skywalker 8PSK adapter, as that normally runs anywhere from $549.99US - $599.99US, depending on where you order from.
They just included the GenPix Skywalker, and lowered the price, not to mention, it looks PIMP!

it's a few inches smaller than before, but more sleek looking as well, with all black, and silver/chrome buttons.

Re: New! Cw-4000hd!!!
The dealbreaker with ANY linux based receiver is the software.
The CW3000 was incredibly hard to setup, and the general user base do not know how to work with a linux system.
If CaptiveWorks can provide a really EASY TO USE OSD and setup, ie like a regular STB, then this can be a winner.
But for now, its just great hardware. The most important part is yet to be seen!

The cw600, 700, 800 are all set top boxes that use proprietary firmware.
The CW3000 HD which I was referring to earlier is linux-based. The 4000 is a progression of this.
I really wish they would go with a regular STB, because CaptiveWorks usually lacks in providing solid OSD for their linux boxes (also note the CW1000 which everybody and their mom ran away from).

Re: New! Cw-4000hd!!!
i know what you are talking about i ordered the linux mce o/s and i sat there for almost a week playing with the kernel and finding way to make it work properly .. and it still was not that great .. now i just run my sv 8000 to my new 4870hd video card and capture to a hd turner to record or watch ..
works like a charm and only cost me a hd tuner 90 bucks

Re: New! Cw-4000hd!!!
That's very creative, dude!
How exactly do you you have it wired up? Is this all in your tv center?

Re: New! Cw-4000hd!!!
first my computer is a rocket top stuff but you do not even need that ..
ok Hd viseo card tv that is at least 720p. then trun a dvi to hdmi cable for watching on the tv . now what you go is run you compite viseo fronm the reciever to the HDtuner card then you can run it back to the video card and out to the tv all done by the computer .. and for the sound you can get a .rca whit and red plug to a mini plug .. to the computer and i have a 7.1 speaker system hhoked up to my computer and boom you can run media center with a guide and full surround now you have to dun it that way or if you record you will get no sound ..
but there is alot of other ways to do it .. if you want you can also hook the dound up to a outside reciever and have a aux out to the tv and that way you do not have to run off you computer at all while still using your media center
