Hi all!!
First time poster, new to this FTA thing =).
I have a question that doesn't exactly pertain to FTA, but the people at Direct TV are idiots and don't know anything other than "I want to sell you **** to make commission!"
So, I have subscription to one of their international packages. When I wanted to subscribe to receive HD as well, they had to install a separate HD satellite. I asked them why can't there just be one satellite to receive HD and International channels and all they said was "were working on it and it will be a possiblity in the new future. Would you like us to set you up with HD? It will be $9.99 a month!" So I'm wondering if anywhere here knows why? And if I get a HD sat and a HD FTA receiver, would I be able to receive international channels?

Re: Hi all!!
I assume Dn stands for Dish Network.
I have thought about Dn before, but I've checked their website and called up customer service to inquire about the international channels I want, and they don't seem to have it. The two taiwan stations I want are TVBS and CTI. I've checked the three main TV companies in my area (Dn, DTV, Comcast) and it seems only DTV receives both those channels that I want =(.

Re: Hi all!!
welcome aboard friend
everyone here is willing to help you free
but to get the most out of the best site you will need to
upgrade your membership and you can do that by clicking the link in my signature
dtv's foreign language and hd channels are on different sats so that is why the 2 dishes
an fta unit will not work for dtv
you can get a hd fta box and get international and hd of 1 sat if you point at a dn sat

Re: Hi all!!
I feel so welcomed.
I guess I'll try gettin a FTA unit for Dn. Can i still use my existing DTV HD sat or would I have to get a Dn HD sat? Also, Nfusion HD or Viewsat Max HD? What would you guys recommend for a cheaper 2nd receiver for a SD TV.

Re: Hi all!!
hello, welcome to abadss, the best fta site on the net!!
this is much more than just a place to get files. it is a community with dedicated members,
forums for just about anything, social groups, your own profile page, access to a weekly poker game,
and too much more to list.
make ABADSS your first stop for everything fta and you will be rewarded with much more.
reading is the best way to learn, use the search option to find posts related to your specific problem.
if you still need help post a question in the proper forum.
helpful hints:
* read and understand the site rules to guide you through our many forums.
* hard reboot with the switch on back of your receiver solves many minor issues.
* before you unplug your receiver, or disconnect any connection including the
switch or lnb ALWAYS REMEMBER to turn the receiver off using the switch on back of the receiver.
you could burn up your switch or mess up your settings if you dont.
* post your type of receiver, your antenna settings, and explain your problem well to receive the best help.
* you need to upgrade your membership to access the files section on this site. this can be done by
clicking upgrade membership at the top of the page. it is free to join the site, ask questions and receive help.
you can upgrade at any time.
* hijacking threads is confusing and not wanted here at abadss. see the site rules to understand
better about hijacking threads. to avoid this start your own thread in the proper forum
if you have any questions.
* this is an informative and friendly site devoted to the fta hobby. the members
and moderators will be glad to help in any way they can.
enjoy the forums and come back often!
