I am lost already, please help
I have directv HD with Hd-20 and a standard room tv set up
so i would like to set up a FTA system..... i see lots of options
I need HD with a hd dvr and a second room none hd system
1. what system is the best ?
2. can i use my directv dish already on the roof with the LNBs on it ?
3. once set up is complete and running, how often is the update to keep it working and where do you find this update, and also how long can a system run 2-3 years before it has to be replaced due to dish directv tech catching up
4.what am i getting once up and running, i am in chicago and what am i seeing from this new system ?
thank you guys
Andrew

Re: I am lost already, please help
With things in flux at the moment, perhaps you may want to consider the nFusion HD unit, to this you'd add the third party 8K module. This unit requires a connection to the internet to receive updates, but in the uptime department - few can touch it

Re: I am lost already, please help
You can not use Direct dish for Fta without antenna modifications. More trouble than it is worth. Dish 1000.2 would be a great antenna for a newbie. Nfusion makes a great receiver. Good Luck

Hi Noahclark, since you've already received some good advice, I'm just going to welcome you to ABA and suggest you check out the "forum jump" menu box on the lower right hand corner and look at the different subjects that may interest you. Let us know what you decide to do.

Re: I am lost already, please help
They have guides in the Stickys in the newbie sections. You can look at retailers or directly on the receiver brand web sites. I will tell you that Sonicview 8000HD(w/8psk card) and NfusionHD(w/8psk card) are the best as of Now. Just pick one of them, you will not be disappointed.
