Dish Network Adds Local HD Channels In 7 Markets

Washington, D.C. (February 18, 2009) -- Dish Network has added local High-Definition channels to seven markets, the satcaster announced today.

Dish had already provided some local HD channels in the seven markets. Satellite and cable TV services sometimes do not offer all major broadcast networks in local high-def due to carriage disputes with the local affiliates.

The new HD channels announced today are:

Abilene, Texas – KTXS ABC Ch. 12Wilkes Barre, Penn. – WOLF FOX Ch. 56
Lincoln, Neb. – KHAS NBC Ch. 5
Albany, N.Y. – WXXA FOX Ch. 23
Chattanooga, Tenn. – WRCB NBC Ch. 3
Syracuse, N.Y. – WSYR ABC Ch. 9
Greenville, N.C. – WFXI FOX Ch. 8 and WCTI ABC Ch. 12

A Dish Network spokesman said customers who subscribe to local channels and HD will receive the new channel at no additional charge.
