GreatWall package and ETTV channels plus iSET are opened with the new iHub and SV files now. V team has done it. I am glad I have the faith in SV. Although there are still some Taiwanese channels not yet opened, I think SV team will have them opened too. Thanks!

The Unit (i-Link IS-8000):

Silver look approx. Size(W x H x D) 290mm x 50mm x 220mm and net weight 1.5kg. And it also has a front panel door w/c conceals a card slot,(No reader installed), and the USB port for upgrade via USB.And can be use for PVR...The rear has the usual coax connectors, (Sat as well as Antenna), as well as RCA connectors, (Y/Pb/Pr), Component video output, S-video, SPDIF, On/OFF switch and RS-232 Connector..

In Upgrading you can use via USB or RS-232,(but RS-232 is no available loader yet).. But I used the USB Flash Drive. In loading the new Bin File took approx. less than 1min. and reboot the STB.

The Main MENU is very sparse and not complicated to navigate. It does have 5 neat Features:

1] Channel Manager : (Channel Manager)

2] Installations : ( Satellite search , DiSEQC switch , Motor setup , Factory default)

3] Options : ( OSD setup , Control Panel , Time Adjust , Parental Lock , Network)

4] Utility : ( System information , USB , Time Record , Game)

5] Accessory ( RS-232 , PVR , Emulator)

The Unit I received came with an IKS(internet key sharing) Dongle netwrok Module. And is connected via RS-232 port to the unit. This unit can be running via Stand alone and IKS.

About scanning the Sats was easy and takes approx. 4min. in two Sats(110-119) to complete. And list how many channels were scanned.

Switching of channels was fast and smooth.

The Video Quality in this Unit is Great....

This new Baby have a VERY Good Support so Far with this Unit, but based on what I have seen so far, this is an Excellent unit for those who are looking for SD and easy to setup...

BTW, First time setup for Network use Hard wire to prevent problems.Meaning use hardwire from router going to STB.

Again thanks to Richiemaimi/Truss.

This section doesn't look very busy (I didn't even know it was here) so I wanted to start a thread for some current information.

I currently have 3 SV 8000HD's in three different rooms. I'm tired of waiting around as SV hasn't added a single useful channel in months now. I'm considering jumping ship and was considering trying an Nfusion before IKS was even required because I heard good things. Now that they appear to have more than a leg up on SV and have many many more channels I'm thinking about buying anywhere from 1 to 3 of their HD receivers. For starters, which one do I want? I see Phoenix, Nuvenio, HD and a few others and am confused by what is what. I want HD with the ability to PVR and whatever their latest box is and whichever works the best. I think the Nuvenio is what I want but read something about it being discontinued so maybe I'm wrong?

Now, a few questions on the differences between the Nfusion and SV stuff. For starters, has anyone used the network to save or play movies as advertised? SV marketed the iHub as the ability to stream media within a home network but I have found ZERO support on this. With three locations it would be very nice to have a central location that I record to and stream from. In stead I have three 1TB drives at each location and it's a PITA to know what programs I have saved at what location. If we're in the theater it seems the movie or shows we wanted to watch are up in the living room or vice versa. I would really like to take advantage of the network capability if this is possible. Also, I download movies on my PC and it would be nice to convert them to whatever format the receivers need to see and use them as a front end device for streaming. I also read that the PQ might be slightly better on the SV but am wondering how much of a difference there really is, if there is one. I've read conflicting reports as to which is more user friendly when it comes to GUI so if someone has both I would appreciate some details there.

Now in regards to equipment overall: Can I simply split the satellite feed at each location with a cheapo splitter and feed one to the SV and one to the Nfusion and toggle back and forth w/o causing any issues? Will I be overpowering the LNB with six receivers feeding power back or ?? I have Harmony remotes so it would be pretty easy to program an option for SV and an option for Nfusion. I assume I would also need two separate HDDs for each location so each box can have it's own drive to record to and play from. Again, the network functionality would really help here so I could have a single HDD for SV and one for Nfusion.

Anyway, I know I'm not the only one who has been somewhat fed up and is starting to see what the other options are so I think it's time to spark up this conversation again. So, let's have it... good or bad but first hand knowledge is ideal.
